about

From Yuko Araki

As for how this edition began, I invited Jonathan Snipes from an American hip hop group “clipping.” to remix “‡Magnetar”. I met him at Skanu Mezs Festival 2022 in Latvia. We both played at the festival and had interest in working together. Jonathan used some field recordings on the track which he recorded in Riga during the festival, a further connection between us.

This piece is followed by a remix from Golpe Mortal who is a producer/DJ and a part of a collective called “Discipline” which emerged from Tokyo. I've had some connections with them. I invited an artist from their collective, "1797071" to my all female artists event/album launch party in Tokyo which was held a few days before I started my most recent European Tour 2023.

Nick Klein who runs radio programs, a label, and events under the working title “ Psychic Liberation “ did an amazing remix too. He contributed a live performance video to an Twich event which I organized during a covid era in 2020.

The last remix of “‡Magnetar” is by Lawrence English. It's a real industrial dark ambient landscape. He also did post-production and mixing, mastering for wrapping up on IV with me.

The “‡Otiron” side, starts with a remix by my favourite extreme metal band “Portal”. They remixed the track into a horror occultist dream state. I love it!

The second remix of “‡Otiron” is by a Japanese producer “Scotch Rolex” AKA Shigeru Ishihara who is part of WaqWaq Kingdom. He plays in seefeel from Warp records as well, their drummer also collaborated with my band KUUNATIC. Scotch Rolex's remix has some kind of ritual black magical atmosphere, bursting withtribal beats and fat bass at the end of the EP.
